Portugal stocks lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 0.61%
Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.61% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which rose 3.46% or 0.0560 points to trade at 1.6760 at the close. Meanwhile, Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 0.90% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.2250 and Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) was up 0.57% or 0.0800 points to 14.1500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which fell 8.42% or 0.0777 points to trade at 0.8454 at the close. Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) declined 1.83% or 0.0990 points to end at 5.3170 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was down 1.63% or 0.0140 points to 0.8450.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 23 to 8 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) fell to all time lows; losing 8.42% or 0.0777 to 0.8454.
Brent oil for March delivery was up 3.24% or 1.74 to $55.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.19% or 1.62 to hit $52.44 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1186.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0544, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8671.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 102.07.
